What is PRK Lasik Surgery?

PRK or photorefractive keratectomy is a form of Lasik surgery, which was devised in the 1980’s, but it received approval from the FDA only in 1995. Though it came later into use as a form of corrective eye surgery in the United States, it was used pretty much in other countries.
In PRK, an excimer laser is used to remove tissue bits from the cornea surface, in order to reshape it ad alleviate vision problems. People with myopia and hyperopia can undergo PRK to rectify their vision. During surgery anesthesia is applied to remove any pain. Time taken for surgery depends on your eye vision prescription. So the higher your vision problem, the more time you need for correction during surgery.
After surgery recovery can take more time, with the recovery period ranging from weeks to a couple of months time. People who have undertaken PRK surgery are know to achieve 20/20 vision or 20/40 vision
