What’s it like on the day of surgery

Lasik eye surgery is performed by using a three-step process in most places offering such surgery.
In the first step, the patient’s eyes are examined by an optometrist in order to collect information on the individuality of each eye and the patient’s unique vision. Such examination is done to find out if refractive surgery is required and what treatment options can be taken for the patient. In case, lasik surgery is opted by the patient, the doctor will inform them about a convenient date on which treatment can be taken and give a detailed explanation of what is expected.
Before the operation a mild sedative is provided to the patient and the area around the eye is prepared with a antiseptic solution. Anesthetic eye drops are placed in both eyes and the lasik operation begin. The process of reshaping the cornea is takes just 15-20 second for each eye and the complete procedure is done in 20 -30 minutes. After surgery some mediated drop will be given and the patient can go home.
The third step is follow-up care, where the patient has to come for a certain period of time in order for the doctor to assess their progress.
